My answer is it depends on the chicken! But mostly YES. Because a chicken does have wings and it depends how fat and heavy it is. If its too heavy it would still be able to descend under some control and at the last minute flap harder and land nice. If its light weight, like an original pre-farm forest chicken, it will easily be able to fly down and easily land. The main problem is if the chicken gets exhausted in the long journey down and gets weak tired out wings by the time it needs to land. It is a fact that chickens can fly so bottom line and if its power to weight ratio is good, then it will land if its not tired.
